Spanish I
Credit: 1/2 to 1

  • This two-semester course designed so that students can acquire fluency in the Spanish language.
  • The four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing are developed through the study of grammatical structures and basic vocabulary.
  • Students will also study the culture, history, geography and traditions of Spain.

Spanish II
Credit: 1/2 to 1
Prerequisite: Spanish I

  • This course is designed to further develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Students will also study the culture, history, geography and traditions of Mexico.

Spanish III
Credit: 1/2 to 1
Prerequisite: Spanish I and Spanish language fluency
Teacher(s):

  • This course is designed to strengthen the student's listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Advanced grammar skills will be reviewed.
  • Students will do 90-100% of the work in Spanish. Historical and classical Spanish literature is introduced.
  • Students will also study the culture, history, geography and traditions of the Spanish speaking countries in South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

AP Spanish III
Credit: 1/2 to 1
Prerequisite: Pre-AP Spanish II or Spanish II & Spanish language fluency

  • This course is designed to prepare the students to be successful on the AP Spanish Language Examination.
  • The course focuses and further develops the fluency of the bilingual student in the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
  • The course is taught at an accelerated pace. Students are introduced to different classical readings, contemporary magazine/newspaper clippings, contemporary informational audio selections, advanced grammar and vocabulary as well as the culture, history, geography and traditions of the Spanish speaking countries in Central America,  South America and the Caribbean.
  • Course is taught to target language 90-100% of the time.

AP Spanish IV Lit.
